A motorcycle ride to raise money for the families of three Spanish Fork teenagers who were struck and killed by two freight trains in Spanish Fork Canyon will take place Saturday.

The organizers are calling it “A Benefit Ride for Three Angels.” The ride aims to raise money for the families of Savannah Webster, Kelsea Webster and Essa Ricker.

Kay Whittaker, a spokesman for the event, said the benefit ride is being organized by friends and family of the three girls and sponsored by Timpanogos Harley-Davidson.

“We encourage people from Spanish Fork and the surrounding communities to come out to North Park on Saturday,” Whittaker said. “From 11am to 3pm there will be food, rides, bouncy houses, a bake sale, face painting, a raffle and an auction. All proceeds will go to support the families of these three beautiful girls.”

Bikers from around the area are encouraged to participate in the ride portion of the charity event.

Rider registration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at Timpanogos Harley-Davidson. The ride will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  at North Park, 1185 N. 400 East, Spanish Fork. Riders pay a $25 registration fee and passengers can tag along for $15. The fee includes breakfast and lunch.

Savannah Webster, 13, Kelsea Webster, 15, and Essa Ricker, 15, were taking pictures near the Covered Bridge Canyon crossing and State Route 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon when the accident occurred.

Two trains – the first an eastbound Union Pacific train and the second a westbound Utah Railway train – approached the girls at the same time. Investigators believe the teenagers were hit by both trains as they tried to maneuver themselves between the two sets of tracks.
