General Conference (Saturday morning): Elder L. Whitney Clayton

90

Elder L. Whitney Clayton spoke of the fulfillment of prophecy and the growth of the church.

“There are nearly 3,000 stakes in the worldwide Church today, from Boston to Bangkok and Mexico City to Moscow,” he said. “We are approaching 29,000 wards and branches.”

Elder Clayton said the prophecies about the Church filling the whole world aren’t impossible.

“It is happening before our eyes,” he said.

Elder Clayton said although this work is great and marvelous, it moves forward essentially unnoticed by world leaders.

“It progresses on heart and one family at a time, silently and unobtrusively, its sacred message blessing people everywhere,” he said.

Elder Clayton said the message Latter-day Saints are commissioned and commanded to take to all the world is that there is a Savior.

“He lived in the meridian of time,” he said. “He atoned for our sins, was crucified and was resurrected. That matchless message, which we proclaim with authority from God, is the real reason this Church grows as it does. … His Church is that stone cut out of the mountain without hands that rolls forward across the globe.”
