BYU softball finally comes home after long hiatus

    After seven weeks on the road, BYU finally gets to play on its home field today against Boise State at 4 p.m.

    The Cougars wrapped up their 33-game road streak by winning three of four games in Sacramento, Calif., including upsetting No. 7 Cal.

    Andrea Ramirez and Jessica Purcell lead the team in hitting with .388 and .386 batting averages, respectively. Purcell leads the team in home runs with eight. Paige Affleck is 10-7 and has 130 strikeouts.

    Boise State?s roster is comprised only with freshmen and juniors. The Broncos are 14-9 in its inaugural season.

    Boise State is coming off a sweep of Utah State in its first Western Athletic Conference series. The Broncos are led by freshman Christina Capobianco, who bats .400 and has scored nine runs and has 23 RBIs. Junior Kathy Cox has a .378 batting average and has scored 20 runs for BSU.
