BYUSA campus activities are in full swing now that Fall Semester has started.

Quinn Calderwood, vice president of BYUSA campus activities, has been planning activities since April.

“We’ve just been powering through, especially with homecoming coming up so soon,” she said.

The BYUSA campus activities committee has a new goal this year.

“We are trying to reach as many students as we possible can,” Calderwood said. “We’ve tried to change things a little bit and appeal to a wider demographic.”

The biggest event coming to campus is Homecoming week. The events will take place from Sept. 18 to 22.

This year’s theme is “Come Full Circle,” which will focus on the history of BYU. Students can dance the night away at the dances with a themed decade.

True blue football will also be returning again with the traditional blue foam field and games.

Students can also enjoy the annual Homecoming parade and pancake breakfast, as well as daily activities throughout the week at Brigham Square.

New to Homecoming this year is the change in the baby contest. Instead of holding the contest, moms and babies are invited to enter the parade. They can dress up and walk in the parade and show their babies off.

Battle of the bands will return this year. Calderwood said it will be as great as it’s always been.

This year for preference, instead of the monster mash, students will have their choice at many themed dances. Couples can choose to attend the couples costume dance, where they will dress up as a famous couple or attend the haunted house dance.

Toward the end of the semester the main activity will be “freeze fest,” where BYUSA will rent out The Peaks Ice Arena for ice skating and have a ginger bread house contest.
