BYU Football Player Suspended

    BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced the indefinite suspension of defensive lineman Russell Tialavea for violation of team rules.

    Tialavea is 6-3 300 pound redshirt freshman from Oceanside, Calif. He was recruited by BYU, Nebraska, UCLA, Arizona State, Oregon State, Utah, California and Colorado.

    He was ranked No. 45 on Theinsiders.com “West Coast Hot 100” list in 2004.

    Tialavea was also named defensive player of the year in high school.

    In his senior year of high school he led hit team to a 13-0 record. He lettered three years in football, and also lettered in basketball.
