Campus Police Beat Nov. 28 - Dec. 5

UNIVERSITY POLICE TIP OF THE WEEK

Take necessary precautions on icy or snowy roads when traveling home for the holidays. Make sure your car is prepared for the trip by checking the tires and headlights. Do not use cruise control on icy roads. Bring extra clothes, blankets and food. Above all: Buckle Up. Enjoy the holidays!

INCIDENT REPORT

A report was made Dec. 5 that a male subject has been stalking a female student employee between Dec. 1 and Dec. 5.

TRESPASSING

A male suspect who was talking with his girlfriend wasn?t satisfied with the conversation, so he went up to visit her in V-Hall in Deseret Towers Dec. 4. He went up after hours when the building is not open to male visitors; the officer gave him a verbal warning.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Suspects in a white Chevrolet pickup were throwing snowballs at people near Helaman Halls Dec. 4. Officers were able to apprehend the suspects and give them a verbal warning.

A bicycle?s tire was cut after it had been left in the bike rack near the Harold B. Lee Library during Thanksgiving break.

NUISANCE CALL

An officer was dispatched Dec. 4 because of several persons dressed only in bikinis in the Quad. They were gone on the officer?s arrival.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A male student threw a snowball at another male Dec. 3 by the Joseph F. Smith Building. He was cited for disorderly conduct.

COMMUNICATION VIOLATION

A female student has been receiving phone calls that were sexual in nature from Oct. 2 to Dec. 2. A third party messaging service was relaying the calls.

THEFT

A female student left her clothes and backpack in her locker while she went to swimming class Dec. 1. When she came back, her backpack was gone. She later received a call from her credit union asking why she was using a card she had cancelled. The suspect had tried to purchase $183 worth of miscellaneous items.

An unattended purse was taken from a women?s restroom on the 2nd floor of the HBLL Nov. 30. It was later located at University Station Post Office. One check and $50 were missing.

A female left her purse on a table in the Cougareat Nov. 28 after the fire alarm went off. When she came back, the purse was missing. It contained $120, four credit cards and other miscellaneous cards. The purse was later found with everything inside.

INFORMATION REPORT

A female student living in off-campus housing received a phone call from a male caller asking her if she would like to answer a few questions. He told her to lie down on the floor and relax. She felt uncomfortable, so she put the phone on the floor. After a while she could hear the man yelling, so she hung up.

COMPUTER CRIMES

Unauthorized access was gained to a computer account in the Tanner Building. The suspect had a prior relationship with the victim. He was issued a citation for using a computer unauthorized.

FIRE

A student set papers on fire on the bulletin board in W-Hall in Deseret Towers Dec. 1. After he lit the papers he yelled ?Fire? and left the area.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

A male visitor was looking up Satanic Web sites in the library Dec. 1. He was asked to leave the premises.

Officers were dispatched to the Wilkinson Student Center Nov. 29 after it was reported that two males had been shaking vending machines. The officers located the suspects who showed them a signature card transaction of the items they purchased.
