    Facing the Pioneer League?s best team, the Orem Owlz fell for the second straight night to the Helena Brewers on Saturday, 5-3.

    Orem (12-13) had a chance at pulling the upset on the road with the game tied at 3-3 late in the game, but the Brewers (18-6) scored a pair of runs on a two-run homer by Angel Salome in the bottom of the eighth inning to take home the win.

    Salome had three RBI on the night to lead Helena, while teammate Charlie Fermaint added two RBI.

    The night before, the Brewers overcame an early 8-1 lead for the Owlz to win 11-10 in a game where Helena scored three runs in the final inning.

    The pair of devastating losses followed a successful road series for Orem against Missoula, where the Owlz took three of four games. Orem outscored the Osprey 37-22 in the four-game series.

    The Owlz now stands third in the Pioneer League Southern Division standings, three games back of Ogden and just one behind Idaho Falls.

    Orem and Helena finished up a three-game series late on Sunday. The Owlz will return home today to start a seven-day home stand against Missoula (three games) and the Brewers (four).
