Tuesday’s evolutionary forum

    Evolution will be the focus of Tuesday?s forum. Michael Whiting, an integrative biology professor, will tackle the topic at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in the de Jong Concert Hall.

    The forum is titled ?Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life: Some Assembly Required.?

    Whiting?s current research focuses on linking insect DNA and anatomical information to patterns of evolution in insect groups.

    He has been published over 60 times in scientific journals, including Nature, Evolution and Systematic Biology.

    After receiving a bachelor?s degree from BYU in zoology, Whiting was awarded the Liberty Hyde Bailey and National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowships.

    The forum will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV, BYU-Television, KBYU-FM, BYU-Radio and byubroadcasting.org. It can also be seen on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium and the Varsity Theatre in the Wilkinson Student Center.
