A recruiter from the Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities will visit BYU on Feb. 10 and 11.

?They have found that BYU is a great place to find recruits for these jobs and internships,? said John Call, the coordinator of academic accommodations and technology for the University Accessibility Center.

In its fourth year at BYU, the Workforce Recruitment Program is looking to conduct the thirty-minute interviews for as many students that it can accommodate in its two-day schedule next Thursday and Friday.

The Workforce Program is a division of the U.S. Department of Labor?s Office of Disability Employment Policy in cooperation with the Department of Defense, according to ODEP spokeswoman Fran Kravitz. WRP?s motto, ?Opening doors, Creating opportunities,? sums up their mission in assisting college students with disabilities at BYU find jobs and internships in both the private and government sectors.

According to the Workforce Program Web site, they interview more than 1,500 students each year for career and internship placement.

The BYU Reach program is hosting a workshop Feb. 2 in 3211 WSC and Feb. 3 in 1567 WSC to prepare students for the WRP interviews.

Andrew Olsen and Sam Mangum, Reach program coordinators, said the two workshops will be identical. They said they will cover resume preparation and interviewing skills.

?This will be helpful for anyone wanting to make a better resume and amaze perspective employers in an interview,? Olsen and Magnum said.

They said Reach?s objective is to help students with disabilities gain work experience and prepare for life after college.

?We provide learning opportunities and resources for students to help with the transition from school to a career,? Olsen and Magnum said.

Any interested students who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and who and are registered with the University Accessibility Office, are eligible for the WRP interviews.

Qualified students may pick up information and registration packets at BYU Career Placement Services in 2410 WSC. Students should ask for an appointment with Rich Cox as soon as possible in order to schedule an interview with the WRP recruiter.
