Stephen and Sandra Covey will speak to students Saturday about ways to build honor and integrity in their marital relationships.

“Honor Your Spouse,” a free seminar for married and single students, will take place in the Varsity Theatre of the Wilkinson Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m.. The presentation will include a continental breakfast, and free babysitting is available for children of walking age.

Ruth Cuevas, Student Honor Association event coordinator, said the major message the association promotes is the importance of the honor code.

“Obviously one of the things is honor and integrity, and I think sometimes we don”t realize what a huge role that is in the family,” Cuevas said. “We”re really hoping students will take away the importance of it from someone that is considered an expert in the field.”

Stephen Covey has written several popular books about families, including “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families,” which will be focused on at the seminar, and attendees will have a chance to win a copy of the book. In addition to his work as an author, Covey has worked with families as a Stake President and throughout his career. He and his wife Sandra have also raised a large family themselves, and frequently share their keys to success with others.

Jeannie Papic, Student Honor Association Program Coordinator, said that learning these skills now is key for both married students and those who will be married in the future.

“It”s a good time for people who are thinking about getting married or who are just starting their families to get some tips on developing a good, strong family,” Papic said.

Students interested in attending the conference should RSVP with the Student Honor Association in 3422 WSC or call 422-3758 before Saturday.
