Pres. Bateman to honor Sept. 11 at Devotional

    “Temples of Learning” will be the topic of President Merrill J. Bateman”s devotional address on Tuesday. He will also remark on the events surrounding September 11.

    The devotional will begin at 11 a.m. in the Marriott Center and will be broadcast to the auditorium in the Joseph Smith Building and on KBYU.

    President Bateman, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has served as President of Brigham Young University since 1996.

    Before serving as President of BYU, President Bateman served as the Presiding Bishop. He has also served as a missionary, bishop, stake president, and regional representative for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

    After last year”s attacks on September 11, President Bateman held a special prayer meeting in the Marriott center. In that meeting, he spoke about the peace the gospel can bring to the world.

    With the one-year anniversary of the attack approaching, President Bateman will remark on the September 11 attacks at this Tuesday”s devotional.
