Danger of losing independence from within

    51

    Dear Editor,

Independence Day, we celebrate our hard won independence from British rule. Remembrance is turned toward the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the Dec. 7, 1941 military attack on Pearl Harbor. We remember patriots united to preserve freedom and oppose tyranny.

Yet we sometimes forget earlier attacks upon America. During the War of 1812, the British defeated Americans in the Battle of Bladensburg, then the Red Coats occupied Washington D.C. and burned the White House.

In Sept. 1774, British troops successfully confiscated the American gunpowder stored at the Provincial Powder House, near Boston.

Yet many Americans are careless about their national independence. Even now internationalist conspirators within our own government seek to surrender our national independence to international traps like the UN.

We have forgotten how to stay neutral and protect our independence.
