A methamphetamine lab was discovered in the basement of a Springville home early Wed., April 10, by the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force and the Springville Police.

Officers served a search warrant at the residence of Thomas E. Gabbitas. When officers arrived at the scene, they found loaded firearms at the windows and at the entrance of the home as well as a methamphetamine lab, said Lt. Stan Eggen of the task force.

Police served a search warrant on the same home and suspect in August 2001, and found a methamphetamine lab and explosives at that time, Lt. Eggen said. Gabbitas is out on bail through the Federal system for the previous arrest.

When officers arrived at the home, all the lights were on and the suspect”s vehicle was in the driveway, said Lt. Eggen. The suspect, however, was not found.

Gabbitas is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Any information about Gabbitas should be relayed to Springville Police.

Police said Gabbitas could be armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him should call 911.
