Letter to the Editor: Additional insight

    23

    Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the author for her attempt to reveal the “truth” of the Provo Temple design. However, I was puzzled as to why she felt it unnecessary to ask any of the original architects.

Just to set the record straight, the Provo and Ogden temples were not designed to “look like a temple.”

My grandfather, Alfred Niederhauser, a church architect for nearly 40 years, and on the design team for the Provo temple, could “set the record straight”.

The design was for functionality, but was based on a much more glorious idea. It was designed with Exodus 13:21 in mind: as a pillar of fire rising through the clouds, leading the people to the paths they must take.

Hopefully this insight will help us all to understand the beauty in one of our Lord’s precious homes.
