Letter to the Editor: Don’t follow crowd

    39

    Dear Editor,

An interesting phenomenon occasionally occurs at firesides in the Marriott Center.

It starts with a few people standing for the opening or closing song.

Inevitably, others see (or can’t see because of the people standing in front of them), and like a wave, the people rise.

Before long, the majority of the audience is standing while the brethren on the stand remain seated.

I don’t know who first said, “Keep your eye on the brethren,” but certainly it would apply in knowing whether to sit or stand when singing.
