Funeral to honor former professor

    The BYU ASB flag will be flown at half staff Wednesday, Nov. 14 through Friday, Nov. 16 for former BYU Professor Benjamin W. Wood who died Friday, Nov. 9.

    Wood, 62, was known by family and friends as a quiet, well-read man. He was born to Byard Dean Wood and Beatrice Card Nov. 13, 1938, in Alberta Canada.

    He married Beverly Jean Carter on Oct. 22, 1959 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised seven children.

    The botany and science professor”s career at BYU ended prematurely in 1980 by an traffic accident that made him physically and mental disabled. His wife and close friend have cared for him 21 years. He has resided in American Fork for 28 years.

    Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at the American Fork 21st Ward on 900 East 300 North.

    Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing Friday, Nov. 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, and the 21st Ward from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
