Letter to the editor: Thanks, network security

    32

    Dear Editor,

I wanted to extend special appreciation to the network security group of the Information Technology department on our campus. A couple weeks ago, I got my third unsolicited letter from a pornographic Web site. On my second try, the IT customer service desk connected me to Jim Sands. Jim not only expressed concern, but he talked to several people in network security about the problem and finally found one who knew something about e-mail security. Not only was network security able to block undesirable email servers, they did something about it. There is no reason for pornography sites or e-mail servers to have any access to BYU. I’m grateful that they took action and blocked this trash from my account and every other BYU e-mail account. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
