Dear Editor,
It seems as though the United States could be heading towards a major conflict here. Before diving headfirst into the shallow end of the pool, I hope we will realize how much more suffering an actual war would cause.
Avenging the suffering of hundreds, which was caused by a few individuals, hardly seems justified when thousands of more innocent lives would be lost. Instead of continuing the killing, we need to end the suffering of the people.
Their country has already been ravaged by years of war with the Soviet Union. What these people need is a decent standard of living. If we provided them with this, maybe our country would not be so hated. If the Taliban were to try and stop us from raising the hands that hang down, then we would be justified in deposing them by whatever means necessary.
War will not stop terrorism, it will only make it worse.
