Families Supporting Adoption (FSA), a national organization sponsored by LDS Family Services, is hosting its third annual conference on Friday and Saturday at BYU.
The theme of this year”s conference is “Adoption…it”s about love.”
Activities will include workshops on various topics, a display room with adoption information and the annual Adoption Hall of Fame banquet.
Approximately 500 people from all parts of the country will be participating.
On Saturday the 28th, there will be 16 workshops covering the many aspects of adoption. The workshops range from the latest information on infertility to advice on telling a child about his or her adoption.
There will also be a training session to help local FSA chapters heighten adoption awareness in their respective states.
A highlight on Friday will be the Adoption Hall of Fame Awards.
This year”s award will be presented to the musical composer Michael McLean for his composition of three songs that support the positive nature of adoption. He will be presenting these songs at the banquet.
Founder and retired president of the National Council for Adoption, William S. Pierce, will also be presented an award for his efforts as an advocate for adoption in many countries.
“Everyone big or small needs a loving family,” Pierce said.
FSA was established in 1996 and now has 55 chapters throughout the United States.
