Four BYU women volleyball players were named to the 2000 All-Mountain West Conference team.

Junior middle blockers Nina Puikkonen and Jackie Bundy, sophomore outside hitter Sunny Tonga and freshman setter Karina Puikkonen.

    N. Puikkonen, a two-time all-conference selection, has been one of the top-three blockers in the nation for the last eight weeks.

Puikkonen is the only player in the conference to win National Player of the Week honors this year and was nominated as the MWC player of the week three times this season.

She was also named the conference player of the year in 1999.

Bundy has earned tournament honors this season and is currently 11th in the nation in blocking.

Tonga was the 1999 conference Freshman of the Year and was named conference Player of the Week earlier this season.

    K. Puikkonen’s successful freshman campaign filled a needed void in the offense.

The Cougars put more players on the All-MWC team than any other team in the conference.
