Two University of Utah football players were suspended from the team Monday for their alleged involvement in a fight outside a Salt Lake City home early Sunday morning.

Sean Patrick O’Keefe, 19, a defensive end from Sandy, was arrested for aggravated assault. According to the police report, witnesses said O’Keefe hit a 17-year-old male over the head with a bat after two groups began fighting.

Corey Dodds, 18, a freshman linebacker from Salt Lake City, is also suspected of involvement in the beating but was not arrested.

“I’ve suspended both players until I find out exactly what happened, what the circumstances were and how it all went down,” University of Utah football coach Ron McBride told the Deseret News Monday after practice. “If Corey is an innocent guy in this whole thing, I’ll reinstate him right away.”
