The Buzz sweep the Sidewinders

    The Salt Lake Buzz overcame a five-run deficit on Wednesday, August 2 to finish off the Tucson Sidewinders and sweep the series.

    The Sidewinders came out hot scoring five runs in the first six innings.

    Byung-Hyun Kim, who was just sent down from Arizona, pitched four hitless innings and struck out six Buzz batters.

    Despite solid pitching from Tucson, the power-hitting Buzz scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead.

    Brian Buchanan led off the inning with a home run while Mike Moriarty knocked a triple to drive in three runs.

    Doug Mientkiewicz popped a two-run homer with Luis Rivas and John Barnes each driving in a run.

    Salt Lake’s pitching staff held on, not allowing any runs after the sixth inning. Dan Perkins got the win after an eight inning outing while Brent Stentz got his ninth save this season.

    Salt Lake continues their road series on Friday, playing the final game in a two game series with Fresno.
