The BYU softball team will travel north to play a doubleheader against Utah in the final games of the season.

The Utes are currently ranked No. 1 in the Mountain West Conference with a record of 14-4. The Cougars are fifth in the MWC with a 6-12 record.

The Utes and the Cougars battled it out earlier this season in a doubleheader where Utah won both games, 3-1 and 7-5.

The Cougars’ goal this season has been to continually improve, reaching their peak conference time.

That goal is in sight as the Cougars beat New Mexico in a doubleheader last Saturday (Apirl 30). They are hoping that the momentum will continue going into this game.

“We’re where we need to be. We must continue to refuse to lose,” said Coach Mary Kay Amicone.

The Cougars will continue to rely on their hitting for this game.

“We must continue to be aggressive at the plate,” Amicone said.

In preparation for this game, pitcher Maryon Dewitt said, “We’ve got to put it all together again.”

The Cougars and Utes will start the first game of the doubleheader Saturday, May 6, at 12:00 p.m. at Utah.

The MWC Tournament will be held May 11-13 in Salt Lake City.
