The Palmyra Temple dedication had some unintended consequences here in Utah.

LDS Church members watched the dedication on a special broadcast. As part of the ceremony, they were asked to bring white handkerchiefs.

As a result, stores from Ogden to St. George ran out of handkerchiefs. Mr. Mac in Orem anticipated the rush but ran out at 2 p.m. Thursday after selling 6,000 hankies in 48 hours. The Orem K-mart ran out at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Linens & Things says people have been buying white napkins to use as replacements.
