The American Society of Landscape Architects honored the LDS Church Thursday with a Medallion Award for its landscaping and gardens at Church headquarters, Thursday.

“It is a great honor for the church to be recognized for national standing with its gardens and landscaping,” said Peter Lassig who has worked on temple square grounds for 43 years and who received the award for the church

Hundreds of people help with the Temple Square grounds, including 2,000 BYU students who help with the gardens three weekends in May and three weekends in October and 50 volunteers who help design the flower beds.

Groups who want to go work on the grounds can call Kathy Mills (801)240-4204.
