Virginia U. Jensen, first counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak Thursday at noon in the Marriott Center.

She will speak about the role of families and mothering in the lives of modern women.

Sister Jensen will discuss the multitude of demands placed on women. She will also focus on how the talents of women can change the quality of family life in many homes.

At the time of her call to the Relief Society General Presidency in April 1997, she served as the director of Church Building Hostesses. In that responsibility, she managed a volunteer pool of more than 500 people.

Sister Jensen has served in all of the auxiliaries of the church, with most of her time spent in Relief Society.
