The second-ranked BYU lacrosse team will try and rebound from two road losses last week as the team faces Fort Lewis College and UVSC this weekend at BYU and UVSC, respectively.

The next part of the season is critical for BYU because it will be playing league games and facing some of the top teams in the country.

“There is no more time for learning, only doing,” head coach Jason Lamb said. “We can’t make anymore mistakes this time in the season. It is all on the line. Practice time is over.”

Senior attacker Mike Davis said BYU wants to focus on the games that the team has to play and not get lazy.

“We don’t want to play down to the level of other teams,” he said. “We want to go out and play our game.”

BYU has dominated Fort Lewis College in years past, but Davis said its team is better this year.

Lamb said he expects the team to go out and give 100 percent for 60 minutes against each team the Cougars face.

“We need a complete package,” he said. “We can’t have solid defense and no offense or the opposite. I’ve challenged the guys to be mentally tough.”

Lamb said these two games against Fort Lewis and UVSC will judge the overall performance of the team and the mental attitude in preparation for the bigger games that BYU will have.

The Cougars (6-2 overall, 2-0 league) will take on Fort Lewis Friday at 7 p.m. at Haws Field and UVSC Saturday at UVSC at 1 p.m.
