    THEFT

    An 18-year-old student reported a bike stolen from the racks at the Cannon Center in Helaman Halls. The theft occurred Wednesday night between 9 and 11 p.m. The student had left the bicycle unlocked. The bicycle is a maroon Univega valued at $300.

    A 26-year-old student had his wallet stolen while he was in the Richards Building racquetball courts last Thursday. The wallet contained personal items. A credit card from the wallet has since been used at a local Provo store. The loss of the wallet and property were valued at $57. Police are investigating the use of the card.

    A box of take-out cookies were stolen from the ROTC Patriots Review on Oct. 12. The cookies were taken from the Garden Court around 2:30-3:30 p.m. The cookies were valued at $20.

    A 21-year-old student had their bicycle stolen from the north side of the Smith Family Living Center on Tuesday. The bicycle was left unlocked all day while the student was in classes. The bike was a blue specialized Rock Hopper valued at $500.

    A 24-year-old student had a cell phone stolen out of his backpack while he was making photo copies in the Thomas L. Martin Building on Tuesday morning. The victim left the backpack unattended for 15 minutes. The cell phone was valued at $165.

    THREAT

    A student sent another student a threatening e-mail. The student indicated physical harm to the other student in the message. This email was one occurrence in a series of incidents between these two students due to a misunderstanding over a female student the two had dated. The situation has been referred to the honor code and the police are considering criminal charges.

    VANDALISM

    A red letter “U” painted in the BYU stadium parking lot was discovered late Wednesday night. The U was 8 feet by 8 feet and painted on the asphalt. Ground crews responded quickly to the report and arrived when the paint was still wet. The paint used was water-based and rinsed off the asphalt easily.

    The UVSC campus across the street from Helaman Halls had graffiti spray painted across a doorway. Police say that the graffiti appeared to be gang graffiti. The incident occurred last weekend and maintenance has been notified.

    SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

    On Oct. 23, a student was walking back to her resident hall when a white male wearing dark clothing jumped out from behind a bridge and frightened the student. The student fell to the ground screaming. The man fled and the student returned to her hall.

    SUSPICIOUS PERSON

    Monday a complaint was made about a man hanging around the Benson Building discussing university take-over, world take-over and cold fusion. The man requested a meeting with a professor, at which he then discussed with the professor that Albert Einstein was a fraud. The man wanted the professor to help him take over classrooms at BYU, which he said would eventually lead to world dominion. The man also requested a meeting with President Bateman. The man is described as being around 70-years-old, white hair, with a short beard, about 6 feet tall and 200 lbs. If students have information about the man they are asked to contact the University Police.
