1969: Stanford University president Kenneth Pitzer announces that the school will cut all ties with BYU after charges of racial discrimination against African-Americans bring BYU national notoriety.

1982: A Peter, Paul and Mary concert scheduled for this night in the Marriot Center is cancelled after only 2,000 of 23,000 tickets sell. The folk trio's agent said he guessed 'they just do not appeal to a younger audience.'

1983: The Cougars defeat Colorado State University 24-6, earning their 8th consecutive WAC championship.

1997: John Beckstead, a senior from Salt Lake city, majoring in business management with an emphasis in finance enters the 1997 CARE World Trading Day Indices Contest and wins a 1998 Lexus. Beckstead won for his accurate prediction of the Dow Jones closing index on Oct. 30.
