Letter to the Editor: Get crazy for Thursday’s game

    69

    Dear Editor:

Thursday night is HUGE. On that night the frontrunner of the WAC Pacific Division will be determined in front of the nation (ESPN). BYU will host the San Diego State University Aztecs at Cougar Stadium at 6 p.m.

BYU comes into the game 3-1 and second in the WAC Pacific Division, while SDSU comes in at 4-0 and first in our division. Our fate for the rest of the season rides on the outcome of this game. We have to beat SDSU or any chance of going to Las Vegas Dec. 5 for the WAC Championship will probably be destroyed along with any chance of a bowl game.

Last week we squeaked by a better-than-expected San Jose State team. Playing here in Provo was a definite advantage. This week we have this advantage once again. Cougar Stadium is intimidating because of its 65,000 seat capacity, but it takes bodies to fill them.

We’ve averaged more than 60,000 this year so far, but Thursday evening gives us the chance to fill the stadium with razed, hyped fans. Let’s give our Cougars the support they need to beat SDSU and win the WAC. Wear blue, make ESPN banners, go with your friends and get stoked, because we’re going to show SDSU and the nation what BYU football is all about.

Also, everyone is encouraged to make that journey into enemy territory, Rice-Eccles Stadium, on Nov. 21. We play Utah the last game of the season in their newly expanded stadium. Wouldn’t it be nice to fill their stadium with blue?

Hey, we just want to go to Vegas, baby! GO COUGARS!!!
