Applications are now available for Fall Semester employment at NewsNet, BYU’s combined newsroom.

A variety of editorial, production and design positions are available, but some prerequisites exist.

Students must have completed Communications 311 and, depending on the editing position, Communications 375, 315 or 312 and 323 (or 333 and 323) to qualify.

Communications 365R is required for photo editor positions and Communications 521 to be opinion editor. Equivalent experience may waive some of these requirements.

Interested students must also have a cumulative college grade point average of at least 2.5 and a GPA of at least 3.0 for each semester they seek employment. They must also attend an orientation Aug. 24 and be available to work from that day through reading days of Fall Semester.

Those hired may not have any other paid employment and undergraduates hired must be registered for at least 8.5 credit hours. The exceptions are seniors who need fewer than 8.5 credits to graduate. Graduate students hired must be registered for at least two credit hours.

Applications can be picked up in 5534 ELWC and must be returned to the NewsNet receptionist by 5 p.m. July 10.
