The highly acclaimed musical “Fiddler On the Roof” is set to open April 18 at the Hale Center Theater in Orem.

Heading the cast of 68 members are Richard G. Wilkins and Merrill Dodge double cast in the starring role of Teyva.

Wilkins, a BYU law professor, is also directing “Fiddler” with his wife Melany. She will also play Golde in the production.

This production is particularly special for the couple because exactly 25 years ago — to the month — they played Teyva and Golde opposite each other in high school.

The couple will sing, “Do You Love Me?”, one of the well known songs from the show which includes the lyrics, “after 25 years, it’s nice to know.”

As usual for the Hale Center Theater, the production is double cast, so the actors in the show alternate from night to night.

Bobbie Jean Owensby will also playing Golde. The daughters of the family are Melissa Brinkerhoff and Kris Jorgensen as Tzeitel, LoraLee Chandler and Daedre Beaumont as Hodel, and Claire Wilkins and Bonnie Beus as Chava.

Cast as Motel, the timid tailor, are Carl Belliston and Steve Miner.

“Fiddler On the Roof” will run form April 18 through June 10. Due to the high demand for this performance the show will run six days a week, Monday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. with two matinees scheduled for the last two Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.
