Monday classes will be held on Tuesday to ensure students get the same number of classes.

“We need 14 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays each semester,” Brent Harker, director of public communications said. Because there are two Monday holidays this semester, Monday classes would be lacking the 14th class if BYU did not alter the schedule.

If BYU were to hold Tuesday classes on Tuesday there would be an excess of Tuesday classes and not enough Monday classes, Harker said. This alteration is an effort to even out the number of classes on each day.

By evening out the number of classes, instructors have the same amount of class time each day and can cover the material they need to for the course, Harker said.
