An 18-year-old male was arrested and four minors were taken to the Provo City Police Department on charges of possession of marijuana at 50 E. and 700 North, Sunday night at approximately 11:30, before being released into their parents’ custody.

There were six police officers at the scene. Three officers searched the black, two-door Honda Civic while the others questioned each suspect privately to gather information for a report.

An officer of the police department said they found 1/8 ounce of marijuana in the car.

One of the minors who was in the car demonstrated resistance to an officer who was questioning him. The officer wrestled the suspect to the ground and held him until he calmed down.

Following the officers’ search, the car was left ransacked. Seats from the car were uprooted and personal items thrown about the inside of the car.

One of the minors, who was 14-year-old, said through teary eyes that he and two others were waiting for their parents to come and get them.

The fourth minor was a female who waited inside the car, and was unavailable for comment.

An officer at the scene said because the fifth suspect was 18-year-old, who was driving the car, he would be taken immediately to jail.
