Breast cancer experts encourage women to investigate genetic history

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the American Cancer Society predicts “about 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women” in 2016. The risk of developing breast cancer in a woman’s 20s and 30s is rare, but even a young woman’s knowledge of her family’s genetic history can make a difference in cancer detection down the road.
