Take a stab with BYU fencing club

Sword fighting is probably not your typical idea of Tuesday-night fun — but then again, you’re probably not a member of the BYU Fencing Club. For club president Adriel Johnson and other student fencing enthusiasts, there’s not much else they find more exciting.

“It’s a fun environment,” Johnson, a junior studying international relations, said. “We provide one-on-one teaching so anyone at any level can come and have a really great time.”

Christmas Box House and DCFS host 5K to help teens in foster care

The Christmas Box House and the Utah Department of Child and Family Services are partnering for their fourth annual Village Run on March 28. They organize the race each year to raise awareness and aid for Utah foster care teens.

Former BYU baseball player killed in car accident

A former BYU baseball player was killed in a car accident in Spanish Fork Canyon Tuesday, March 23, 2015.

Pitcher Arik Mack, 19, from Springville, hit a semi-truck head on after crossing the center line on U.S. Route 6. Mack was thrown from his seat and died at the crash scene. The driver and passenger in the semi-truck and the passenger in Mack’s car were injured.

BYU swim and dive athletes head to NCAA championships

Swim and dive members Jake Taylor and Nathan Gonzalez will represent BYU at the 2015 NCAA Swim and Dive Championships.

“This is every swimmer’s dream, to make it to the championships,” Taylor said. “There is no competition at a higher level than this in college.”

The NCAA championships involve an annual tournament featuring both individual and team competitions for national titles.

Cougar rugby dominates in 109–0 win over UVU

Although Utah Valley University is just 10 minutes away from South Field Stadium, the ride home for the Wolverine rugby team was a long one after suffering a 109-0 loss to the Cougars.

“I think that we started off slow, but once we got going, we got into a flow,” junior fly-half Jonathan Linehan said. “We were able to keep that flow throughout the rest of the game.”
