BYU secured its 300th football win at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday night edging out the University of Connecticut 30-13 after a strong fourth quarter.

Tanner Mangum named Madness Offensive Player of the Week

BYU freshman quarterback Tanner Mangum was named College Sports Madness Independent Offensive Player of the Week following a 30-13 win at home against University of Connecticut.

Mangum set the school record for freshman passing yards in a single game with his final 6-yard touchdown pass that brought his total to 365 yards.

BYU women's soccer comes out on top in second conference win

No. 6 BYU (10-1-1) scored two first half goals in a 2-1 victory over Portland (4-8-0) to come away with its third consecutive win.

Portland is known for possessing the ball well and BYU women’s soccer head coach Jennifer Rockwood said she thought the Cougars were a little shellshocked at first, then settled down.

“Portland is such a good team when they have the ball,” Rockwood said. “They’re so dangerous, they move so well off the ball.”

Cougars return home to LaVell Edwards Stadium with a win

Only a few rows were empty at the top of the LaVell Edwards Stadium as fans cheered the BYU football team on to a 30-13 win against the University of Connecticut through bouts of heavy rain.

Many questioned which running back would carry the team after several games of accumulating injuries among key players. Algie Brown started after a few weeks of not playing due to an injury. He made a notable difference in the game as he ran the ball for 95 yards.

BYU women's volleyball defeat San Diego

BYU women’s volleyball defeated San Diego 3-0 tying them for first in the conference standings.

“We had a total team effort tonight,” BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. “I love the way our team fought for this match. Our assistants did a great job to prepare them well, and the team executed the game plan.”

The first set was close as BYU and San Diego exchanged points back and forth. The Cougars were able to solidify the win with a San Diego attack error winning the first set 25-23.
