Each week at my job, my boss Bob makes us write down our predictions for the upcoming football game. This week I’m posting my prediction for everyone to see based on a simulation hosted by EA Sports.
BYU wins 48-30. I know because I’ve seen the game already — the Cougars defeated the Utah Utes on a cold day at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The Cougars entered the stadium expecting to take a quick lead, but they suffered early because of poor blocking up front. On the second play of the opening drive, Max Hall threw an interception to Mychal Robinson that was converted into a touchdown just a few plays later.
Fortunately, that was Hall’s only interception.
After Utah’s first touchdown BYU took control of the game, scoring quickly and often to take a 41-17 halftime lead. A lackluster third quarter resulted in two Utah field goals and a last minute touchdown for BYU.
Hall went 21-for-42 for 405 yards and four touchdowns, but was sacked five times during the game.
Harvey Unga carried the ball 40 times, rushing for 140 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
Utah was unstoppable in the red zone, scoring each time it made it in, but unfortunately for the Utes they only sniffed the 20-yard line two times.
Some speculate that Utah would have the advantage if Matt Asiata, who was injured earlier in the season against Louisville, were playing in the game.
After the simulation, the Cougar fans left the stadium in an orderly fashion. No negative words were spoken or directed toward the University of Utah. BYU has again proven itself to be a class act, truly worthy of the Las Vegas Bowl.

That last paragraph is a joke. BYU fans save up their entire lack of class all year long in order to dish it out when they play Utah.
At least Utah fans drink a bunch of beer before they get annoying. What's BYU's excuse?
Ya right... hall throwing for 405 yards against Utah's defense with only one pick? 41 points in just the first half? good luck. Isn't it about time the cougars stepped it up for the mountain west by winning a BCS bowl game? Oh right, the Las Vagas bowl, that's all BYU will ever get. GO UTES!!!
84 plays just between Max Hall's passes and Harvey Unga's runs, that is a lot of plays, especially when you think that that Harvey Unga typically isn't the only one to run the ball for BYU during a game. But fun to speculate, Go Cougs!!!
