Let the battle begin: Goodnight Annabelle

Goodnight Annabelle is ready to take Battle of the Bands by storm.
The band is comprised of Sam Giovanini, Mike Shaver, Morgan Shaver, Jaren Soelberg and Byron Garvin.

“We’re kind of alternative rock, with pop-punk influences,” said Garvin, who plays guitar.
The name, Goodnight Annabelle, comes from the name of Mike and Morgan Shaver’s hometown, Annabella, Utah.

“We thought Annabelle sounded like a cool name to put another word in front of,” said Morgan Shaver, who joked that he was considering changing his name to Ricky Shox, “and… it was night time.”

On their MySpace, the band cited Dashboard Confessional, Something Corporate and Relient K as a few of their influences.

Goodnight Annabelle started small, with a few of the members playing on and off with each other in smaller bands. The band didn’t come together, however, until after all the members were back from missions.

All of the members of Goodnight Annabelle are students; their majors range from construction management to psychology. The band’s first official gig was at a battle of the bands in Spanish Fork, but it says it has come a long way since then.

Goodnight Annabelle recently released its first album, an E.P. titled “Some Songs,” which is available for purchase on iTunes.

At the Battle of the Bands, look for Goodnight Annabelle to play three of their hits: “Sad Song,”  “Contract” and “Slam On Your Brakes.”
