Suspicious Activity
September 19: People were reported to be on the Y with flashlights at the Y mountain trailhead. Police showed up and the people left the area.
September 21: A report was made about a suspicious individual walking around with an electronic device at Valley View Park. It turned out to be the housing security officer.
September 21: A call from Helaman Halls was made reporting suspicious conduct. A female reported her picture has been taken twice. She said someone knocked on her window and took her picture. It turned out to be two males, one in a red coat and one in a yellow shirt. The police were unable to locate the two men.
Theft
September 19: In the Wilkinson Student Center a theft was reported in the employee locker room. A woman’s purse, containing credit cards and cash, was stolen.
September 20: A backpack was reported stolen in lot 45. After band practice, a student had left the backpack for a short moment. A $300 laptop was stolen, but the backpack was left behind.
September 21: There was a report from the WSC of a woman who left her backpack unattended for a short period of time. Someone took a can of women’s body spray and $30 cash.
Alcohol
September 19: A call was made reporting an intoxicated person during the Florida State football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium. It was a BYU visitor who was cited for public intoxication. His friends removed him from the stadium.
September 19: Three to four people were reported to be drinking in a white car. Officers showed up and the people left.
Disorderly Conduct
September 19: After the BYU football game a woman tried to direct traffic and was hit by a vehicle. She confronted the driver who said he had been waiting for a long time, and then drove off. The woman reported the license plate and police are currently investigating.
September 19: A woman was cited for scalping (reselling) tickets at LaVell Edwards Stadium before the football game. It is against the law to sell within 750 feet of any venue in Provo.
September 21: A man was cited for trespassing in the utility tunnels of Helaman Halls. He had been warned on two other occasions.
September 23: Four individuals were skateboarding south of LaVell Edwards Stadium. Three were given verbal warnings and the fourth, a BYU student, was given a citation because he had been given a warning before.
Burglary
September 20: Officers responded to a burglary call in Helaman Halls. They met with the complainant who said she was watching TV when someone reached into the bathroom, grabbed a toiletry kit and threw it at her. The police have interviewed some people but have no suspects. The case is currently under investigation.
Property Damage
September 24: The passenger window of a Kia parked in parking lot 1 was broken. Nothing was stolen, and officers do not know what caused the break. Officials think it might have been the hot weather.
