Utah Symphony to perform ABBA hits this week

The Utah Symphony proudly continues to thrill audiences at its summer home in Park City during the Deer Valley Music Festival, which features many well-known classical and pop artists.

The Utah Symphony will feature the symphonic hits of ABBA Saturday at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m.

Music selections include, “Take a Chance on me,” “Mamma Mia,” “Waterloo” and “Dancing Queen.”

“Surrounded by the scenery of Park City, as the sun sets, sitting on a ski slope listening to music is just perfect,” said David Cho, conductor of the Utah Symphony.

The outdoor setting will allow adults, children and families to enjoy this amazing music.
“It’s a very causal setting,” Cho said. “You can lie down on blankets, bring a picnic basket and eat while you enjoy the show.”

The goal of the festival is to deliver a high quality and musically diverse experience in casual settings of unparalleled natural beauty, according to the Deer Valley Music Festival Web site.
The 2009 Festival is in its sixth season of providing chamber music, classical, opera and pop.

The festival brings in well-known artists such as LeAnn Rimes and Elvis Costello for the enjoyment of its visitors.

“It’s more of an event than a come-listen-to-music activity,” said Jana Allred, public relations manager for the Utah Symphony.
