Blogger Meet-Up Allows Area Bloggers a Chance to Meet Face to Face

189

In the world of blogging it’s easy to know every detail of a someone’s life, even if the reader has never met the blogger. To encourage meeting face-to-face, people will organize parties for blog friends to get together.

Katie Beth Summerhays of the blog The KB Files is one such blogger who especially enjoys interacting in person with her blog friends.

“After meeting [bloggers] in person, I feel as though I get even more from reading their posts,” Summerhays wrote in an email. “Having that personal connection makes their stories, their inspirations, their creativity all the more relevant to my own life. Strictly online friendships are great, but they are, without a doubt, even better in real life.”

Networking is another benefit of meeting area bloggers.

“I don’t know everyone that blogs in Utah County, but the ones I do know are not just bloggers,” wrote Emily Frame, of the blog Ruffling Feathers and co-sponsor of the event, in an email. “All of them run businesses and their blogs act as a way to promote that business as well as catalog snippets of their lives … Because we all run businesses and belong to this weird little community of blogging it seems like we are all a little bit more supportive of one another, and I’ve made fast friends having those two things in common.”

The event is Thursday, April 26 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Apricot Lane Boutique in The Shops at the Riverwoods. Attendees will receive 25% off Apricot Lane Boutique merchandise in addition to Cupcake Chic treats, giveaways and beauty treatments by The Spa at Provo Beach Resort. You can RSVP on the event’s Facebook page here.
