Letter: Finding our free will

86

As a senior at BYU and a reader of The Daily Universe since my freshman year, I enjoy the Reader’s Forum. I enjoy learning about various viewpoints and experiences from students and faculty at this great university.

But one can only take so much. I’m tired of the complaining.

Whether it’s parking, the Honor Code or EFY kids, I’ve read every complaint. The more I read, the more confused I become.

Did you not choose to come here?

Since you used your own free will to attend this university, perhaps you can use your own free will to make the best of it.

Tired of never finding a parking spot?

Try walking.

Don’t live close enough to walk?

With a little planning, you can move somewhere that is close enough to walk.

Are you upset at the EFY kids for making the Cougareat lines too long?

Pack a lunch.

Is the library too noisy?

Try studying at home or at the Provo Library.

With our own free will, we can make small changes in our behavior that will make our experience here a little better.

BYU is probably not going to make more parking, and EFY will always be a part of BYU in the spring and summer.

Complaining about things that are probably not going to change isn’t going to get us anywhere, so let’s focus on accepting what we can change — our attitudes.
