BYU’s International Folk Ensemble was scheduled to return to the United States Tuesday after a month-long tour representing American folk tradition in central Europe.
Stops on the tour included workshops and performances in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Croatia. Dancers and band members were able to learn from and teach performing professionals from these countries in workshops. The team also had the opportunity to perform with professionals from each of these countries and in villages in more rural areas.

Members of the Folk Ensemble further strengthened their international ties with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when they attended a Young Single Adult activity and held a fireside for members of the Church in Budapest, Hungary. According to a recent news release by BYU Performing Arts Management, the Folk Ensemble also held firesides for members of the LDS Church in Prague, Czech Republic and Zagreb, Croatia.
The tour concluded with performances in Porec, Croatia, including at the Zlatna Sopela International Folk Festival.
After a one-day stop in Vienna, the team was slated to board a plane in Prague to head back to the United States armed with invaluable knowledge and experience, both for those performing with the team next year and those moving on to life’s next adventure.
