BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Friday that junior running back Manase Tonga will receive a one-game suspension for violation of team rules regarding conduct. In addition, Tonga will be unable to report to and participate in Fall Camp until all legal matters have been resolved.

“Manase is a young man of solid character,” Mendenhall said. “He is someone I trust as a leader on this football team. There is an expectation of conduct associated with being a member of this football program. I believe Manase has learned a very valuable lesson from this and we look forward to having him back, participating with the team as soon as possible.”

Mendenhall said Tonga will miss the Arizona game and will be able to begin practicing with the team as soon as all legal matters have been resolved.
