The NCAA Final Four is here, and it may come as a surprise, but some people don’t actually like college basketball all that much; they couldn’t care less about Louisville, Wichita State, Michigan and Syracuse.
So for the people who don’t get why the Big Dance is such a big deal, here are a couple other tournaments winding down that might strike your fancy.
Animals March Madness from BuzzFeed
With the cute animals of the world competing for a place in your heart, it’s hard for anyone to resist Animal March Madness. Starting with sixteen animals from four regions, visitors to BuzzFeed voted on their favorites.
Their Final Four? From Australia, the wombats; from America, the otters; from the Big Dudes, the elephants; and from the Grab Bag region, the red pandas. The wombats took on the elephants, and the otters went up against the elephants.
BuzzFeed voters determined elephants and red pandas to be the winners of their hearts. Let’s be real though: we’re all winners when it comes to looking at pictures of cute animals.
Known for its daily cute animal posts, it’s no surprise BuzzFeed brought the animals of the world together for this no-holds-barred battle of cuteness.
The Morning News Tournament of Books
And if animals aren’t your style, make sure to check out the Tournament of Books, a surefire way to find something new to read. Judges included successful authors, editors of magazines and websites, magazine and newspaper columnists and teachers.
In its ninth year of pitting fiction works against each other, this year’s Tournament of Books includes novels by John Green, Adam Johnson and Louise Erdrich. Never heard of them? Well, they’ve written some of the best fiction books from the last year.
The Tournament of Books final put Green’s The Fault In Our Stars, a novel about star-crossed teenagers dealing with cancer, up against Johnson’s The Orphan Master’s Son, a novel about a boy in North Korea struggling with his identity. Johnson’s Orphan Master’s Son won in a landslide 14-3.
