Pre-relationship wedding planning becomes the norm

Being engaged, let alone being in a relationship, is no longer a prerequisite to planning an entire wedding. Thanks to Internet sites like Pinterest, The Knot and other wedding wedding blogs, women can now plan nearly every aspect of their future weddings, regardless of their relationship status.

The New York Times says these “brides” find comfort in planning their weddings anonymously online:

But the Web’s influence on single wedding planning may go even deeper, said Ms. Whitney, who also runs Wedding Planning Plus, her own company. As single women see endless photos of weddings on Facebook and seemingly infinite ideas for wedding cakes, dresses, canapés, lighting, dance floor shapes and other details on wedding blogs like Style Me PrettyBridal Snob and Ruffled, the images become eye candy.
