Australian archbishop convicted of child sex abuse cover-up
Archbishop of Adelaide Philip Wilson, who suffers from early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, told the court that he cannot recall two victims tell him that they were abused by pedophile priest James Fletcher. Wilson plead not guilty, but has been convicted as the most senior Roman Catholic cleric in the world to cover up a child sex abuse scandal.
Texas school shooting suspect’s father thinks he was bullied
Father of 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, who killed eight classmates, two teachers and injured 13 others at a high school in Santa Fe, said that he suspects his son was under pressure and possibly bullied. He explained that he didn’t know his son was capable of such violence, since he didn’t fight with others, didn’t drink and pursued healthy activities like working out. “My son, to me, is not a criminal, he’s a victim,” he said.
Records: Teen suspect said he ‘drove at’ Maryland officer
Sixteen-year-old Dawnta Anthony Harris of Baltimore has been charged as an adult for the slaying of police officer Amy Caprio. Police have not yet confirmed how Caprio was fatally injured, but witnesses say they heard a pop before seeing Harris run her over with his Jeep. Three other teenagers connected to Harris have been taken into custody, and police are looking into whether they had anything to do with the officer’s death.
