President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was released from the hospital Wednesday evening after spending two days there, according to Church Spokesman Eric Hawkins.

“President Monson was released from the hospital last evening, and plans to resume his normal schedule and duties today,” Hawkins said.

The 89-year-old prophet recently attended the 187th Annual General Conference sessions held on Saturday morning and evening, then spoke at Sunday morning’s session. He was not in attendance at the final session Sunday afternoon.

President Monson was still in the hospital when rumors spread yesterday that he had died. Reports proved the rumors false later in the day.
