This year marks three years for the annual Utah Fashion Week. Runway shows will be held in Salt Lake City at The Falls Event Center starting Tuesday, March 14, running through March 21.

Utah Fashion Week features independent designers from Utah who showcase their designs and projects. Utah Fashion Week co-producer Natalie Workman said this year will feature 58 different designers, the first show in 2014 only featured 20 designers.

“This year we have six different shows, and we are introducing a swimwear show for the first time,” Workman said. “Another new thing we are doing is featuring pop-up shops and sample sales, so if you see something on the runway that you like you can actually buy it.”

The shows feature up-and-coming designers, with cocktail dresses and evening wear, swimwear, bridal wear, urban and street wear, cocktail and resort wear and one show featuring evening and avant-garde wear.

Haunted Head Fashion owner Rebecca Fenton is one of the designers featured in the evening and avant-garde runway show on March 18. She has been sewing since she was 7 years old and started her own business in 1997.

“My style is generally dramatic, avant-garde, edgy but pretty. I love evening wear and anything fancy and other worldly. I tend to go gothic, sci-fi and film noir aesthetic,” Fenton said. “I like the mysterious and brave, basically dark and sparkling.”

Fenton said she is looking forward to the energy of the show. She said she enjoys seeing what the incredible local designers are up to and loves being in a room full of creative artists.

“I love to show my work live. It’s the best feeling to get out there and show what I do in my life and my vision,” Fenton said.

Utah Fashion Week has grown in popularity and interest, so tickets sell out quickly. This event brings fashion designers, photographers, stylists, industry insiders and fashion-lovers all into one place. To support local fashion designers, tickets can be purchased online.
