BYU


Stalking

May 17 – A female student reported her ex-boyfriend has repeatedly made contact with her, despite her requests for him to stop. The female notified BYU police that the incident had been reported to Orem Police. The man was continually making contact in Orem and on BYU campus. She was given information regarding stalking orders and how she can receive help through Title IX. Orem police have told the man not to make anymore contact.

Theft

May 16 – A male student reported his Toyota 2001 had been ransacked overnight. He reported the incident at 11 a.m. It is possible the car was left unlocked. It was parked outside of Wyview. Sunglasses valued at $40 were taken.

Trespassing

May 15 – At 6 p.m. an officer reported three individuals playing soccer on the RB outdoor field. The individuals were given a warning for trespassing as the gates were locked. The officer escorted the individuals off of the field.


Provo


Theft

May 17 – Around 2 p.m. a purse snatching incident was reported on 1200 Block of State Street.

May 16 – Around 5 p.m. police made two arrests after finding stolen goods from Sears at the Provo Towne Center Mall. The suspects were taken in for felony level theft. Three more accounts of shoplifting were cited at the Provo mall earlier that afternoon, as well as another incident a day prior.

May 16 – Around 3 p.m. a car was reported stolen from 1600 West and 150 North.

May 15 – Around 5 p.m. property was reported stolen from a motor vehicle near the intersection of 700 East and 750 North.

Drugs and alcohol

May 17 – Around 9 p.m. at the intersection of 700 West and 500 North, two suspects were found in possession of drug paraphernalia and have since been referred for charges.

May 16 – A suspect was found in possession of meth around 11 p.m. at 900 West and 100 South.

May 14 – Around 10 p.m. an alcohol offense occurred near 300 East and 700 North.

May 13 – An individual in possession of marijuana was found around 1 p.m. near the underpass at Independence Avenue.

Breaking and entering

May 16 – A burglary was reported at 1 a.m. near 300 South and 300 East.

Disorderly conduct

May 14 – Disorderly conduct was reported around 2 a.m. near 300 South and 900 East.

May 13 – Around 800 West and 400 North disorderly conduct was reported. The incident occurred around 2 p.m.

Abuse

May 16 – Around 1 p.m. the sexual abuse of a child was reported at 1 South and 300 East Street.

May 15 – A simple assault was reported at 3 p.m. at 300 Block Freedom Boulevard.


Orem


May 16 – It was reported that the “IRS” was contacting a victim in Orem about owing $1500 in a cashier check. Though these scams are not new, the phone number displayed Orem Police Department’s number.

Theft

May 15 – Mid-morning Orem Police pursued suspects who were allegedly involved in a previous car jacking incident. The suspects threw a box of nails onto the road near 350 West and University Parkway. The suspects were captured near Deer Creek.
